We seize opportunities to implement programs that allow us to further our commitment to corporate citizenship, while simultaneously adding value to our business and properties.

We are Blue, but we remain committed to continuing to go green.

We understand the importance of doing our part to keep the environment clean and sustainable for years to come.

Here are just a few of the ways in which we’re making this happen:

Saving Paper: As a company, we recycled 1,741 tons of paper in 2014.

Every bit of recycled paper comes back to us, and we are working to increase electronic notifications where convenient for our customers and members.

Buying Smart: We try to make sure all the things we do, buy and use go through the full life cycle. We buy recycled products that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill, reducing waste and saving money, rounding out the ecological loop.

Recycling Materials: We’ve eliminated Styrofoam containers in company cafeterias, and we also offer a battery recycling program for employees.

Saving Energy: Our buildings are efficient and energy-smart, using automated cooling and heating systems to reduce electricity consumption. In addition, we extinguish exterior lights at 10 p.m. in our headquarters buildings for five months during the year. This effort, in conjunction with the Audubon Society’s “Lights Out” program also helps prevent migratory birds from flying into our buildings

Telecommuting: We encourage telecommuting and work-from-home opportunities to help reduce the carbon footprint. This provides the added benefit of boosting employee morale and productivity and providing a better work/life balance.

We are in sync with city, state and federal environmental goals and set aside funding to ensure that we’re able to meet and stay ahead of best practices for sustainability. Corporate citizenship is one of our guiding principles, and sustainability is a key pillar of our efforts.
